Christian Aid
Christian Aid is an international development and humanitarian organization that works in partnership with local communities, stakeholders, and organizations in 37 countries globally. For over 75 years, Christian Aid has been working for and with people of all faiths and none to highlight suffering, tackle injustice and champion people’s rights. Our vision is a world where everyone has fullness of life; a life lived with dignity, free from poverty and need; where global resources are equitably shared and sustainably used; and where the voice and agency of the poor and marginalized are fully realised. In Kenya, Christian Aid present since 1997 working with over 30 partners across 27 counties, mainly in arid and semi-arid lands.
CA Kenya’s thematic focus areas are:
- Climate Change, Adaptation and Resilience: To enhance the resilience of communities by prioritizing, recognizing, and addressing the impacts of climate change
- Gender Equality: To enable society governed by just relations where gender equality is promoted by empowering women, men, boys and girls and all forms of discrimination and violence are eliminated.
- Governance and Rights: To ensure that power is redistributed between stakeholders through accountable governance and access to justice society in decision-making processes
Humanitarian Action – To put people at the centre of decision making and enable a smooth transition from relief to resilience.
Christian Aid has had a long-standing commitment towards women economic empowerment through Gender Justice thematic priority. In line with the WEF-K 2024 theme our gender justice work focuses on addressing the structural inequalities and barriers that prevent women from fully participating in and benefiting from economic opportunities.
During this forum, Christian Aid will lead in key discussions through a presentation and panel discussion on challenges facing women MSMEs and use the opportunity to disseminate findings from small biz – big Tax report that highlights tax injustice facing informal traders.
