Janet Ngombalu-Christian Aid Kenya Country Director

Janet Ngombalu Currently Christian Aid Kenya Country Director joined Christian Aid from Eastern Africa Grain Council (EAGC) in Kenya, where she was working as the Regional Programs Coordinator and Deputy to the Executive Director. Janet previously worked for Practical Action, in the energy department, where she co-authored the book on Confronting the Crisis in Urban Poverty, making Integrated Approaches work. Janet holds a Master’s Degree in Sociology, majoring in Entrepreneurship Development from the University of Nairobi, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Community Development from Daystar University. Professionally, she trained in enterprise development through value chains and business service markets in Turin, Italy. She is also a certified champion of change for Africa – Agricultural Development program supported under the USAID Feed the Future Initiative, supported by DAI.

Janet has a passion for developing innovative ways of working: she led the establishment of the Smart Markets for the future, towards safe, affordable and nutritious food in Kenya, supported by the Rockefeller Foundation, https://www.rockefellerfoundation.org/grant/grant-eastern-africa-grain-council-2020/. And also developed the Climate Information for Grains (CI4G), https://ci4g.net/, to support climate information to small holder farmers, driven by the passion to design solutions that benefit both people and the planet. She is also part of the Food Systems Leadership through the Africa Fellowship Program https://africanfoodfellowship.org/bio-janet.html.
