Ms. Winnie Maru is the CEO of Tembea Africa Tours & Travel, a travel company based in Nairobi that provides personalized tours & travel related services. Before joining the private sector, she was actively involved in the Civil Society sector and particularly within the women’s rights movement where she has been at the forefront of championing the women’s agenda, something she is deeply passionate about.
Winnie chairs the Supplier Diversity Sub-sector Board at KEPSA and is a member of the Gender Sector Board there.
The Supplier Diversity subsector’s role is aimed at accelerating advocacy for greater supplier diversification for increased market linkages for more women, youth and PWD owned enterprises within the Private Sector, and Development agency supply chains. She is a member of the Kenya Association of Women in Tourism (KAWT) a Board member of the Eldoret Municipality Board, immediate past president of the Soroptimist International Club of Eldoret and previously served as a member of the Advisory Council of URAIA Trust.
Winnie is a member of the National Women Steering Committee (NWSC) and holds a BSc. Computing & Internet Systems from the London Metropolitan University. When she isn’t working or lobbying for women, Winnie will be found off roading with other 4×4 enthusiasts, a pastime that lets her tour the country on roads that are less travelled. She is an active member of the 4×4 Bundu Rovers Club…the only registered vehicle club in Kenya, where she serves as Assistant Secretary
